So I was out in San Jose, CA checking out apartments this past weekend. At first I checked out all the cheap spots I could find on craigslist. I hated them all, except for one which was brand new. I was about to get ready to sign the paperwork when I found out that I had exceeded the salary limit to live in the apartments because they were low income housing. After changing my flight plans to continue looking around, I started looking in nicer areas. I just couldn't stand 8 Mexican kids crammed into one apartment with all their trash sitting on the balcony while listening to a single mom yell. When looking into nearby cities, I would stop in the local McDonalds, listen for the amount of spoken Spanish, and use that as a basis on whether or not it was a shitty city. If that criteria passed, I then checked how many kids were bathing in the pool.
